This issue typically occurs for users who have been using the module for a long time and is caused by eBay making internal changes to the category tree, deleting the category currently mapped in the module.
For example, the category “Wine, Coffee & Gourmet Foods > Whiskey & Liquors > Other Liquors” no longer exists and has been redirected to “Food & Beverages > Alcoholic & Pre-Mixed Drinks > Whiskey.”
Fastbay allows you to update categories directly from eBay using a button, but by default, it does not delete obsolete categories because in many cases eBay automatically redirects products to the new categories. This saves you time, as you won’t have to redo the catalog mapping in case of updates on eBay’s side.
However, specifications are only added by eBay in the new categories, sometimes making a remapping operation unavoidable.
If you find yourself in this situation (you can check the existing categories directly on the eBay site by simulating the listing of an item), you need to download the updated categories from eBay and perform the mapping between your site’s category and the updated eBay category. Then, request the specifications in the new category, which will be updated according to the latest requirements from eBay.
Starting from module version 6.5.0, you can download eBay categories by “clearing” the previously stored category tree.
This will ensure you always have a consistent and updated category mapping.
