(Last updated documentation – 10/01/2024 – Module version 6.6.2)
Starting from version 6.6.2 of the module, it is possible to benefit from a new feature, developed in collaboration with eBay, to automatically retrieve K-Type codes via a web subscription service, starting from the manufacturer’s OE part code.
What is a K-Type code?
The K-type code is a reference system used in Europe to identify specific models and configurations of vehicles. This code helps to determine the compatibility of auto parts and accessories with various vehicle models, simplifying the search for suitable components for a specific car.
eBay uses these codes in its internal data interchange system, in order to compile the compatibility table within the listings:
What are the requirements to use this feature?
Using this feature requires a subscription to TecDoc (More information on TecDoc in eBay) and having the manufacturer’s part codes (also known as “OE Codes”) in your site’s database. The module supports reading these codes in the Reference, Supplier Reference, MPN, Feature, or Short Description fields.
How to enable integration in Fastbay
It is necessary to enable the selector “Vehicle parts compatibility list (enable K-type entry in the product sheet)” in the GENERAL > ADVANCED tab of the module.
This will unlock the module interface useful for interacting with this feature:
- The Fastbay editor within the product sheet will have a text box for entering K-Types codes and a button for automatic data download via web service
- The table “Products to synchronize” within the “Products” tab will have an additional column “Configured K-types”:
The module will also have a new dedicated tab called “Auto Parts” in which to configure the necessary options
for this feature and perform mass processing and data export:
In this tab, it is necessary to configure the VAT number of the company used to enable the TecDoc service and the field to be used as a data source for reading the OE codes, chosen from those mentioned above.
In the lower part, the three buttons present allow the following functionalities:
- Process products without K-types: All products with unique OE codes on the site not yet associated with at least one K-type will be scanned and a data query will be initiated to retrieve K-Types via web service, if available.
- Export CSV:
The system will produce a CSV file containing OE codes, linked product IDs, and any K-Types available in the database.
- Reset all K-types: The system will delete all K-types obtained so far from the database. Use this option cautiously as the operation is irreversible.
It is also possible to request and download K-types for a single product, using the dedicated “Get K-types” button inside the Fastbay editor in the product tab.
In case of success, a pop-up alert will notify you of the number of K-types received:
At this point, it will be possible to synchronize the product to eBay to automatically generate the table with vehicle compatibility within the listing.
