[Starting from module version 6.6.5]
Introduction to the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR)
Starting from December 13, 2024, the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) will come into effect with the goal of ensuring that all products sold in the European Union (EU) and Northern Ireland are safe for consumers. The GPSR applies to both new and second-hand products and imposes specific compliance obligations on sellers.
To comply with the new regulations, companies must ensure that product safety and compliance information is clearly provided. This includes crucial details such as the manufacturer’s name, contact information, and, if the manufacturer is not based in the EU or Northern Ireland, the details of a responsible person or entity within the EU.
This information will be publicly visible within the eBay listings:
How to Configure GPSR Data in Fastbay
GPSR data can be configured in the new TAB named GPSR.
Settings in this TAB will be replicated and synchronized across all marketplaces where Fastbay is used.
Fastbay expects the business data sent to eBay to be available as addresses within your e-commerce site.
The module uses addresses associated with manufacturers, suppliers, and optionally, custom addresses.
How do I add manufacturer and supplier addresses in my PrestaShop site?
You can add addresses linked to your site’s manufacturers and suppliers in the “Catalog > Brands and suppliers” section of PrestaShop.
You can set addresses for existing Manufacturers by clicking the “Add new brand address” button in the top-right corner of the screen.
You can set addresses for existing Suppliers by opening the list (clicking the “Suppliers” tab to open their list), clicking the three dots icon on the right, and selecting “Edit”. This will open the supplier editor with the relevant business information.
For bulk uploading this data, PrestaShop natively supports address import from an Excel file.
What data is sent by the module?
The module will send to eBay the mapped address information including (if filled out in PrestaShop): company name, address1, address2, state, country, postal code, and phone number.
The company name field will use the “Company” field of the address as priority (if available) or the name of the manufacturer/supplier (if the address belongs to such entities).
The email/website field will only be sent if specific Producer data configuration is provided (available starting from module version 6.7.0).
The email may also be sent as part of the Responsible Person data via a custom address linked to a PrestaShop customer, using that customer’s registration email.
Information about the Manufacturer’s Address
This section allows you to send business data related to the manufacturers of your items, retrieving the data directly from addresses associated with brands/manufacturers natively configured in PrestaShop.
This functionality can be enabled with a single click by checking the box “Send manufacturer address information during product sync” and clicking SAVE.
This ensures that all required information is included during synchronization with eBay (both during publishing and updating with the “Update all fields” mode), provided that you have correctly configured your manufacturers and their associated addresses in PrestaShop and linked them to the products to be synchronized.
The module interface shows a summary with the total number of configured manufacturers and how many of them have completed business info.
You can also quickly access the PrestaShop section for adding manufacturer addresses and managing manufacturers using the buttons in the panel.
By clicking “Configure Email / URL addresses for manufacturers”, you can assign a contact email and a web address to the manufacturers configured in your e-commerce.
Once configured, this data will automatically be included in the GPSR details during sync:
Information about the Responsible Person
In addition to or instead of manufacturer addresses, the module allows you to send eBay the contact information of “Responsible Persons” related to your product catalog.
These can be linked to site manufacturers using custom addresses created specifically to meet regulatory requirements by clicking the “ADD CUSTOM ADDRESS” button, or by using existing supplier addresses if these are configured in your site and you decide to map a manufacturer to a supplier:
It is important to note that to use this advanced functionality, products synchronized with eBay must have an associated manufacturer. The module will read the configured mapping and send the mapped address as the responsible person to eBay, regardless of whether there is a native address linked to the manufacturer.
If a product does not have a specific manufacturer or if you want to simplify data management, you can use the “Use a default address in case of missing mapping or manufacturer” option available in the Responsible Person Information tab.
Here you can select one of the custom addresses you’ve created or one of the supplier addresses associated with your site.
This option allows you to designate a single default address for the entire catalog, thus ensuring compliance with regulations even in cases where it is not possible to specify a manufacturer for each product.
